Happy to share some keyframes I created for director Baltasar Kormákur for his film "Beast" done at the Framestore Art Department. These were super early keyframes to explore mood, cinematography, and playing with the idea that we never fully see the monstrous lion until the final showdown. An example of this is the first two frames... The first frame, while more aesthetically pleasing was too "beautified", whereas the last frame was preferred as it was harder to make out the lion, throwing his face more into shadow, and there was a lot more motion blur and dust being kicked around to create the energy of the shot. This can also be seen in the interior car shots where Idris Elba's character is being swiped at by the lion... One is clearly seen inside the rover, whilst the second one is just showing his claws while his head is on the outside, obscuring his face. This was a fun set of keyframes to make and experiment with. Check out my Instagram @jopgenhaffen !
