I had the privilege of vfx art directing the "Illusion Battle" in Spiderman: Far From Home, in what turned out to be a creative roller-coaster and a collaborative union of the Framestore art department and vfx.
These were some explorations of a sequence where spidy lands on a giant spiderweb and is attached by a giant spider. The visual style of the web changed dramatically though the process (from natural to stylised ropes), which resulted in many many many iterations. I think most of the artists at Framestore art Dept had a gobat this! Shame and it was cut from the film...
I used this as a chance to try out Blender’s grease pencil to create the web. This was my first time cracking blender open to use in production.
